Jalen Brunson is officially cleared.
The New York Knicks star point guard announced Thursday that he has been medically cleared following offseason surgery on his left wrist, putting him on track to begin training camp without restrictions.
Brunson revealed the update during a live taping of The Roommates Show with teammate Josh Hart at Randall’s Island Park in New York.
“As you guys know, I had surgery this offseason, and I just wanted to tell you guys that I am fully cleared,” Brunson told the crowd. (People.com)
Brunson Played Through the Injury
Brunson underwent surgery in July to repair a tendon issue in his left wrist. He had played through the injury during the Knicks’ historic 2026 playoff run.
The point guard later explained that soft tissue around the tendon was causing it to repeatedly move over the bone when he shot or flicked his wrist, creating pain and friction. (People.com)
Despite the injury, Brunson helped lead New York to its first NBA championship since 1973.
He averaged 26.0 points, 6.8 assists and 3.3 rebounds during the 2025-26 regular season before raising his production during the postseason. Brunson averaged 28.4 points during the playoffs and was named NBA Finals MVP. (Taylorville Daily News)
Ready for the Knicks’ Title Defense
Brunson’s clearance comes just days before New York begins training camp.
The Knicks are scheduled to open the preseason October 5 against the Philadelphia 76ers before beginning their regular-season title defense October 20 at home against Philadelphia. (People.com)
